Comments by David Derr on his Drawings

_COURTING THE MUSE
The main figure is transparent so that it resembles the forms of Indonesian Wayang Kulit or “Shadow Play”, a unique combination of ritual, lesson, and entertainment.

TRIUMPH

SACRED COW
This drawing is based on a photo that was taken my friend and digital artist Tom Chambers.
The other part of the inspiration comes from  The Ten Oxherding Pictures  by a Zen master of the Sung Dynasty known as Kaku-an Shi-en (Kuo-an Shih-yuan) belonging to the Rinzai school. He is also the author of the poems and introductory words attached to the pictures.
Have cows reached a bovine nirvana due to human domestication?

THERE'S ONE IN EVERY CROWD
Individuality is the subject of this piece

PRIMARY BODY OF EVIDENCE

SACRIFICE OF THE EGO

THE DREAM MOUND

NIGHT WING
Pen and Ink of figure kneeling on the ground and releasing a bird at night.

PETER

JEANETTE
